Xiaomi, a year ago, he announced his ambitious project linked to the landing in the electric car sector in which he will invest 10 billion dollars over 10 years. From that moment on, the first details of the project carried out by Lei Junfounder of Xiaomi.
As we know, for example, Xiaomi’s first electric car should arrive in 2024 even if there is still no precise information on its characteristics. It seems that Xiaomi has made important strides in his work. In fact, according to a report from the Chinese press, the company could show a prototype of its first car in the third quarter of 2022.
The same report also claims that Xiaomi is planning to launch four models: two mid-range with prices between 150,000 and 200,000 RMB (21,340 – 28,450 euros) characterized by the presence of Level 2+ assisted driving and two other high-end cars with Level 3 driving assistance and prices between 200,000 and 300,000 RMB (28,450 – 42,687 euros). If the first model is expected for 2024, the other three will arrive one a year from 2025. Thus, the last car is expected for 2027. Obviously, like all reports, this too must be taken with due caution.
If indeed the company is almost ready to show a prototype of its car, surely we will know more soon. We also remember that towards the end of November 2021 the news had emerged that Xiaomi will build a factory in Beijing that will be able, once fully operational, to produce up to 300,000 cars a year. In a first phase, however, the plant will allow to produce up to 150,000.
Xiaomi will move its auto division (Xiaomi Automobile Technology) and the offices related to research, development and sales activities to a new headquarters in Beijing.
