Superchargers have always been a great added value that Tesla offers its customers. These fast-charging stations allowed the American manufacturer’s electric cars to travel long distances without major problems even when the public infrastructure was still very immature. Over time, Elon Musk’s company has worked to make this network more and more widespread.
An even more important job now, given that Tesla intends to open its charging stations to electric cars from other car manufacturers as well. As we have seen just recently, the manufacturer is progressively expanding its pilot project and, to date, some Superchargers from Holland, Norway and France also allow the other electric ones to be recharged.
The expansion work never ends and, now, Tesla has updated its charging point map adding several new Supercharger stations that will open in 2022. The biggest news can be seen above all in America where several new planned stations have sprung up. But also in Europe the number of Superchargers that will be open during the year is growing.
It is worth noting that Tesla went from having 23,277 Superchargers in 2,564 stations at the end of 2020 to 31,498 Superchargers in 3,476 stations at the end of 2021.
As for Italy, several other Supercharger stations are expected to open in 2022. Compared to the latest map update, the real news seem to be few. In any case, it is an opportunity to recap where Tesla’s new charging points will be open in the course of 2022. Starting from the North-East of the country we have:
- Valleys of Carnia: Q2 2022
- Mestre: Q2 2022
- Bergamo: Q1 2022
- Bardonecchia: Q1 2022
- Turin: Q1 2022
- Alexandria: Q3 2022
- Parma: Q2 2022
- Bologna: Q1 2022
- Ancona: Q2 2022
- Perugia: Q1 2022
- North Rome: not communicated
- San Salvo Marina: Q1 2022
- Naples: Q2 2022
- Palermo: Q3 2022
Therefore, Tesla intends to open, in the course of 2022, 14 new Supercharger stations. The expected opening dates of the recharging points must be taken with due caution. We know, in fact, that actual entry into operation depends on many aspects, including bureaucratic ones.
However, it can be noted that the network is unbalanced towards the north of the country. While Tesla is filling some gaps in the South, there are still several partially uncovered areas.
