Peugeot is working on a SUV Coupeat the moment known as 4008which will compete, once on the market, with models of the caliber of the Renault Arkana and the Citroen C5 X. The car should be based on the same platform as the new Peugeot 308 and was again intercepted on the road during a test session.
The new spy photos allow you to see a forklift still heavily camouflaged. However, although many elements of the design cannot be observed as they are camouflaged, the shapes are already quite clear. We note, for example, a very low front and a roofline that drops like in the coupes. Also note the alloy wheels that have a very particular design that could be adopted on the production model as soon as it debuts.
The new images do not allow you to see the interior. However, it is likely that we would find a passenger compartment with strong similarities to that of the new Peugeot 308. So, in addition to the digital instrumentation, there will be a large central display dedicated to the infotainment system.
Since the platform used should be that of the Peugeot 308, one can imagine that we will find the same engines (at least part of it). Most likely there will also be Plug-in versions that should allow the SUV to travel 50-60 km electric. It will be proposed also a 100% electric variant? There is no information about it. It must be said, however, that the platform allows it since Peugeot has already made it known that the 308 will be offered, in 2023, also with a 100% electric powertrain.
As mentioned at the beginning, the name 4008 is not yet certain. Some reports also speak of the possibility that the SUV Coupe could be called 408 cross.
More details on the design and features will surely emerge as testing progresses. At that point, the camouflage should also subside, allowing you to observe much more detail of the car’s look. The debut is expected in late 2022 or early 2023.
