Panasonic: “entry-level” Ultra HD and HD LCD Smart TVs arrive in May

On the Italian site of Panasonic the first appeared LCD TV belonging to range 2022. At the moment there are three series that we are aware of: we remind you that the Japanese brand has not yet presented the products for this year and that at CES 2022 there was only talk of the top-of-the-range LZ2000 OLEDs. Lines arriving at May they are LX650E, LX600E and LS480E, all positioned as “entry-level”, ie in the medium-low or low range.

LX650E and LX600E have one resolution Ultra HD while LS480E is HD. The equipment includes for everyone a Smart TV platform which is not always the same. On LX650E and LS480E we find Android TV while on the LX600E there is the same solution that Panasonic proposed last year on the JX600 series, that is a simpler operating system based on Linux and described simply as “Smart TV”.

Let’s see in detail the main features of all the upcoming series:

Android TV ULTRA HD LX650E

The cuts reported on the Panasonic website are three: 43 “, 50 “ And 55 “. The panels are Ultra HD and they do not have advanced systems for backlighting control. The refresh rate is not clearly indicated but, considering the placement and the rest of the features, we believe it is fixed at 50/60 Hz. Signal processing is entrusted to the processor 4K Color Engine with 4K RMR 1200Hz (Real Light Motion Rate, intervenes on the motion).

Videos are supported HDR in formats HDR10, HLG And Dolby Vision. As for the audio we find 2 speakers of 10 W each and support for the Dolby Atmos. All “smart” features are managed through Android TV 11 with all the possibilities offered by the Google operating system.

There is access to the Play Store, Google Cast to replicate the functions of a Chromecast and voice interaction with Google Assistant via the microphone on the remote control. There is also a media-player integrated capable of playing all major types of video, audio and image files.

The LX650Es have TV tuners DVB-T2 And DVB-S2 with HbbTV 2.0.2 is one CI + slot with ECP 1.4. Connectivity includes 3 HDMI inputs which support two functions of HDMI 2.1: eARC (HDMI 2) e Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM). The equipment is completed by Wi-Fi, Ethernet port, Bluetooth with A2DP and 2 USB 2.0 ports.

On a lower step is the LX600E series which offers three models: 50 “, 55 “ And 65 “. The resolution is always Ultra HD and obviously we do not find an evolved backlight. The refresh rate is not specified but, given the market range, we do not believe there is any doubt that these are TVs that work at 50/60 Hz. The video processor is always the 4K Color Engine combined with 4K RMR 1200Hz.

The HDR formats are the same as the LX650E series and there is also Dolby Atmos. The most notable difference is given by the Smart TV platform: Android TV is replaced with a Linux based system which provides applications for some of the main services. We mention for example YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, TikTok, DAZN and Twitch. The absence of Google also implies the lack of Google Cast and some differences regarding voice assistants. The latter can be used by combining an external speaker: we speak of “Works with Google Assistant“and” Works with Alexa“.

The rest of the equipment follows the features we have listed for the LX650E, including the media player, TV tuners and 3 HDMI inputs with eARC and ALLM. The audio section is always stereo with a power ranging from 10W x 2 of 50 “and 55” to 12 W x 2 of 65 “.

LS480E is the “entry level” series as far as the Android TV. You can choose between a 24 “ it’s a 32 “ with HD resolutionto be precise 1366 x 768 pixels. The LCD panels are a 50/60 Hz with 600Hz 2K RMR. There is HDR compatibility that spans formats HDR10 And HLG. The Smart TV platform provides all the features we have listed for the LX650E.

Instead, the audio section changes which has a power of 2.5 W x 2 on 24 “and 6 W x 2 on 32”. LS480E is also equipped with DVB-T2 and DVB-S2 tuners with HbbTV 2.0.2. As for connectivity we find 3 HDMI inputs with HDCP 2.2 and ARC support. Finally, a VGA input complete with the appropriate audio connector is added.
