Mercedes confirms, Vision EQXX technology will arrive on production models

At the beginning of January, at CES 2022 in Las Vegas, Mercedes had presented Vision EQXX, an electric concept car that could be seen as a sort of showcase of the latest technologies that the German brand had developed. A car that could count on very refined aerodynamics with a Cx of 0.17 and on a series of solutions that allowed it to have 1,000 km of autonomy.

A spokesperson for the German brand confirmed to Autocar that the technology present in this car will arrive on their future electric series models.

EQXX is a research vehicle designed to explore new options for future production vehicles. Many innovations from this technology program will soon find their way into our production vehicles.

Mercedes will not only use the technologies developed for this concept car in its cars of the future but will also take advantage of all the new tools and processes created to design and build the prototype. During the presentation of the Vison EQXX, Markus SchäferMercedes Chief Technology Officer, had already hinted that the concept would inspire production models.

The first, in particular, it should arrive in 2024 and it should be a car of the same segment as the C-Class. It could therefore be the EQC sedan we have talked about in the past. Care in aerodynamics, new technologies, new batteries and more efficient engines, all this could soon find its place within a new model of the German brand.

We recall some of the most important features of the Mercedes Vision EQXX. In addition to particularly refined aerodynamics, the prototype could count on a new platform with 900 V architecture. Present an engine of “just” 150 kW but Mercedes had explained that the platform is designed to accommodate engines with greater power. The 100 kWh battery had an energy density of nearly 400 Wh / l. Weighing 495 kg, it was 50% smaller than the battery pack of the new EQS flagship.
