A few days ago, Lotus unveiled Eletre, its first electric SUV. A model that for the British carmaker represents the beginning of a new page in its history as the brand will focus more and more only on battery-powered vehicles. Eletre has also brought to the debut many interesting technologies, offering at the same time a powertrain with over 600 hp able to guarantee very high performance since we are talking about 260 km / h of maximum speed and 0 to 100 km / h in 2.95 seconds. Powertrain powered by a battery of over 100 kWh capable of allowing a range of about 600 km.
Apparently, however, an even more powerful version of the electric SUV could arrive in the future. According to a report by Top Gear, a variant equipped with a powertrain with a three electric motor scheme could debut in a couple of years: one at the front and two at the rear. We speak of a power of 900 hp. If the relationship proves correct, Eletre could go to confront directly with the Tesla Model X Plaid which has 1,020 hp and promises a 0 to 100 km / h in 2.6 seconds. After all, the British manufacturer, describing its new car, defines it as a “Hyper-SUV”.
Obviously, like all reports, this too must be taken with due caution but it is still very interesting. For Lotus, proposing an even more performing version of the Eletre would certainly make sense. Therefore, all that remains is to wait for the arrival of any information on the possible debut of this more powerful variant of the electric SUV.
It is possible that over the next few months something more will be known. As we know, the first deliveries of the new SUV are expected in 2023 and, therefore, surely, Lotus will share more information about its car during the year.
