LG HU710P: Laser and LED hybrid Ultra HD projector with webOS 6.0 smart TV

LG announced the CineBeam HU710P projectora product characterized by a hybrid lighting system composed of Laser and LED. We speak for the accuracy of a Blue laser combined with a wheel with phosphors to get green, flanked by Red and blue LEDs for the other chromatic components. The core technology is the same as we find on the higher-end HU810PW product: images are displayed via a chip 0.47 “DLP with with resolution Ultra HD obtained through eXpanded Pixel Resolution (XPR). This solution allows you to recreate four pixels for each of the 1920 x 1080 micro-mirrors present.

LG claims a maximum luminance of 2,000 ANSI lumens and a noise level between 26 dB (Eco mode) and 28 dB (Bright mode). The duration is estimated to be at least 30,000 hours of operation. The lens has a shooting ratio of 1.3 – 2.08: 1 with a 1.6x zoom. These numbers translate into the following ratio of screen size to projection distance:

  • 150 “from a distance of between 4.3 and 6.9 meters
  • 100 “from a distance of between 2.9 and 4.6 meters
  • 40 “from a distance of 1.1 to 1.8 meters

HU710P is also equipped with lens-shift, the function that allows you to translate the image without moving the projector; the excursion is equal to +/- 60% vertically and +/- 24% horizontally. The full on / full off contrast ratio is 2,000,000: 1. In case it is not possible to obtain a perfect alignment, the distortions of the image can be corrected using the kestystone which operates on 4, 9 or 15 points.

The projector has a iris which can be opened or closed in relation to the conditions of use. There is also the dynamic control of the light emitted by the Laser, here called Adaptive Contrast to indicate the ability to adapt to the scenes to be shown on the screen. Other interesting features are the ability to cover the 94% of the DCI-P3 color space and the ability to play content in HDR in formats HDR10 And HLG. From LG TVs is derived the dynamic tone mappingthe processing that analyzes the sources in real time to optimize the balance between light and dark.

From the HU810PW model, on the other hand, motion processing is resumed: we therefore find again TruMotionwhich makes viewing smoother through frame interpolation e Real Cinema, addressed to purists who want to keep the original refresh rate of film material (24 Hz). Then we add the Super Resolution to increase the detail, filters for noise reduction, to improve the transition between shades of color and various settings to make an accurate calibration.

The HU710P is also equipped with the Filmmaker Mode, of HGiG (HDR Gaming Interest Group) to ensure the correct viewing of video games in HDR and an integrated audio section consisting of two speakers of 5 W each. There are three HDMI inputs and they support the functions of HDMI 2.1 Auto Low Latency Mode (on one door only) ed eARC (HDMI 2). The maximum bandwidth is 24 Gbps and therefore signals with Ultra HD resolution at 60 Hz can be viewed in 10-bit 4: 4: 4. There are two USB-A 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port, an optical digital output, Wifi And Bluetooth.

There is also the Smart TV based on webOS 6.0. All functions are controlled via the remote control Magic Remote white with pointer e backlit buttons. The possibilities offered are those that LG makes available on the TV range: there is the store to download applications, the media-player to play multimedia content, AirPlay 2 And Miracast (both up to Ultra HD resolution at 30Hz), voice interaction managed by LG ThinQ, a web browser and LG Sound Sync for wireless connection of a compatible LG soundbar.

The list price stands at £ 2,499 in the UK. In Europe, French sources claim that the price will be 2,499 euros.
