The new Hyundai IONIQ 6 will debut in 2022. This is the Korean manufacturer’s second electric model equipped with the E-GMP platform. Over time we have seen several spy photos of the car and, recently, Hyundai’s head of design, SangYup Lee, in an interview, made it known that the design of the car had been finalized and that the presentation was missing. only a few months.
Now, the IONIQ 6 has been spied on the road again. The car still appears camouflaged, especially in the rear area where you can see the optical groups that show some similarities with those of the Hyundai Prophecy concept car. In particular, optical groups composed of square pixels are noted. This is a solution called Parametric Pixel that we will find on many other future electric models of the Korean brand.
The design of the new sedan, as we know, will be inspired by that of the Prophecy concept. The new spy photos they also show different alloy wheels from those seen recently on other forklifts. The pictures do not allow you to take a look at the interior. However, the cockpit shouldn’t differ too much from that of the IONIQ 5.
Therefore, we will certainly find large displays dedicated to instrumentation and infotainment. Past reports stated that the IONIQ 6’s debut had been postponed for a few months in order to be able to make some design changes and integrate the new 77.4 kWh battery.
In any case, the presentation of the electric sedan should not be long. From the point of view of the specifications there should be no differences with the IONIQ 5. The IONIQ 6, in fact, should adopt the same powertrain as the electric crossover. Will there also be an N version? Possible, given that Hyundai is working on the IONIQ 5 N. At this point all that remains is to wait for the presentation date of the new Korean electric sedan.
