Free To X’s work continues to build and activate stations for fast charging of electric cars inside service areas of the ASPI motorway network (Autostrade per l’Italia). As we know, the project plans to equip 100 service areas with recharging points by June 2023. By the end of 2022, the aim is to reach halfway, that is, to offer columns for the supply of energy in 50 service areas.
Apparently, charging on the motorway has finally arrived in Southern Italy. In fact, Free To X has announced that it has inaugurated the charging station on the motorway at the service area of Teano Ovest on the A1 towards Naples. On the route between Caianello and Capua are now available 4 charging points of 300 kW which will allow battery-powered cars to fill up with energy quickly.
Further innovations are expected for this service area. In fact, Free To X has announced that within a few weeks a column with a Type2 and CHAdeMO connector will also be available. Obviously, other charging stations are planned for Southern Italy. For example, work will start in the two service areas of Canne della Battaglia by the first days of April. Furthermore, by the summer the pure columns will be installed in the service areas of Torre Fantine Est and Ovest. The San Nicola Est charging station will be inaugurated by Easter.
This is only in Southern Italy as further activations are expected in the next few weeks throughout Italy.
The service areas where charging for electric cars is already available on the ASPI motorway network are:
- San Zenone Ovest
- West Bucket
- Conero Ovest
- East Flaminia
- East Secchia
- West Jupiter
- West Teano
