Ferrari confirms: the Purosangue will have a naturally aspirated V12

In 2022, the Ferrari will lead to the debut Purosangue, his first SUV. This is a highly anticipated model that we have talked about several times over the past few months. Of the Purosangue we have seen several spy photos, teasers and even some “stolen” photos taken directly inside the Maranello factory.

But if we already know a lot about the design of the SUV, there were still many doubts about engines which will find their place inside this new car from Maranello.

The CEO, Benedetto Vignaduring the presentation of the financial results for the first quarter of 2022 which, as we have seen, have done very well.

Apparently, the Thoroughbred will be equipped with a naturally aspirated and non-electrified V12. Ferrari reportedly experimented with a few alternatives but then preferred the performance and driving experience. In short, the technicians preferred a solution in the name of tradition, choosing a naturally aspirated 12-cylinder.

We tested several options, it was clear that the V12, for the performance and driving experience it could provide, was the right option for the market.

Nothing was said about the engine numbers. It is clear, however, that the Purosangue is most likely destined to become one of the most powerful SUVs on the market. Given the numbers of the V12s used in the Prancing Horse models, one can still think that the Purosangue can have powers around 800 HP.

During the presentation of the financial results, Vigna was asked if the Purosangue will also be offered with other engines. To this question, the CEO did not answer. Past rumors spoke of the possibility that a hybrid unit was also used. At the time of the presentation we will probably know more. For the moment, we know that the SUV will be able to count on a V12 that will be able to offer very high performance.

Furthermore, no advances have been provided on the estimates of sales expectations or on the prices of this new model.
