Arlo launches Go 2, its most versatile surveillance camera with WiFi and siren

Is called Arlo Go 2 the new security camera presented today on the Italian market by the brand dedicated to video surveillance which is part of Verisure.

The newcomer is the evolution of the first release of the series, the Arlo Go, which we reviewed some time ago appreciating the simplicity of outdoor installation and integration with smart assistants (Alexa, Google, IFTTT) but regretting some features that could have been implemented, such as connectivity via data only, without WiFi. Here: the Go 2 aims to improve what has already been done, starting from this last area.

Thus, the connection option with a 3G / 4G SIM card which is useful for monitoring the most remote areas – such as construction sites, distant structures, stables, cabins, boats – was added the ability to connect directly to a WiFi network if there is one available, such as in second homes and particularly extensive gardens, and it is possible to switch from this to the other if the home line fails.

According to the manufacturer, the fully wireless installation takes less than five minutes. Streaming quality has also improved from 720p to 1080p and allows you to view live color video from your smartphone, both day and night thanks to the presence of LED lighting. The integrated light can be configured to activate with movement or turn on via the app; the viewing angle remains 130 °, but GPS and a smart siren have been implemented.

When it detects motion, the camera sends alerts to the smartphone (also compatible with Apple Watch, Echo Show and Google Nest) and if the user judges there is an actual threat – for example an attacker trying to enter the property – it can also remotely activate the 80 dB alarm integrated in the device and use two-way audio with speakers to discourage it, as well as calling a contact person who may be nearby.

Additional features are linked to the Arlo Secure monthly subscription, which allows for example to activate a customized advanced detection in which the camera distinguishes between people, animals and vehicles by sending a notification only when really necessary; Also included are 60 days of cloud storage to cover recorded footage in case you missed a notification, a possibility that is added to local storage on microSD, and insurance on the theft of security devices.

The package includes the Go 2, the screw holder, a rechargeable battery and an indoor charging cable, but various backward compatible accessories can be added depending on the use you want to make of it, from the panel for charging with solar energy to a larger battery (4 months with data connection or 12 months with WiFi), passing through the black cover, the double charger and cables of various types.

Arlo Go 2 will be available for purchase on the Italian market starting July 1, 2022 at a list price of 299.99 eurosexclusively at authorized dealers or, starting from the third quarter of the year, at € 359.99 with a two-year warranty in collaboration with Vodafone.
